This Sankara Meen Kulambu tastes much better, when served the next morning with hot spongy and fluffy idlis.

Fresh and tasty sankara meen, cooked to perfection with shallots, tomatoes and tamarind extract.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Clean the fish and cut to desired size.

  2. In a kadai, heat oil, add the mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin and fenugreek.

  3. Once they splutter, add the chopped garlic and saute.

  4. Then add the shallots and curry leaves and saute.

  5. Now add the chopped tomatoes and saute.

  6. Add the chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and salt.

  7. Mix well.

  8. Add the tamarind extract.

  9. Pour 2 cups of water and allow to boil.

  10. Let the kulambu boil on medium flame for 5-10 minutes.

  11. Now add the fish one by one.

  12. Add more water if required. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the fish is cooked.

  13. Open and allow the kulambu to boil.

  14. Finally add gingeley oil.

  15. Transfer to a serving bowl.

  16. Serve this tasty and yummy sankara meen kulambu with rice and fish fry.
