Mint chutney or Pudina chutney is a regular at most of the South Indian homes. It tastes best with idlis, dosa and even sandwiches. Mint leaves have lots of medicinal properties and its beneficial to add the leaves in our daily diet. Its good for the skin and for digestion. This herb is very aromatic and adds a distinct flavor to the dish. There are more than one way, one can make a chutney from the mint leaves and this chutney is just one version of it. This Pudina chutney without coconut tastes equally good as that with coconut.

Fresh mint leaves ground with chillies and urad dal.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the urad dal and grind in a mixer.

  2. Now add a little oil in the kadai and saute the chopped onions, tomatoes and green chillies along with the mint leaves.

  3. Cool and grind in a mixer along with the powdered urad dal.

  4. Add required amount of salt and water and grind.

  5. Meanwhile in another small kadai, add urad dal and mustard seeds.

  6. Once they splutter, add it to the chutney.

  7. Serve this tasty and healthy Pudina chutney with idlis or dosas.
