Phirni – Rice Pudding


Festivals are here… make them sweeter with this so creamy and delicious Phirni. Milk and sugar go hand in hand while making sweets and  nothing can beat this combination. The rice adds a different texture and flavor to the smooth and creamy sugar milk mixture. This Phirni is not only perfect for festive seasons but also a great way to end any meal. This is a simple, basic version of the Phirni, you can make it more special by adding almonds, rose essence, pista and so on…according to your taste.

Phirni - Rice pudding

Simple and tasty dessert to make your family meal time more special...



  1. Soak the basmati rice in water for 10 minutes. Drain and spread it on a clean cloth to remove excess water.
  2. Grind it in a mixer with a little milk.
  3. Mix the ground mixture with the remaining milk.
  4. Now cook this mixture in thick bottomed pan on a medium flame. Add more milk, if the mixture becomes too thick.
  5. Now add sugar and cardamom, keep cooking on a medium flame.
  6. Once cooked transfer to serving bowl and add the saffron strands.
  7. Serve this delicious and creamy Phirni warm or chilled as desired. Roast the cashew and raisins in ghee and top the Phirni with it to make it more special.
